Windows XP SP2 Updates to End on 13th July
Windows XP was released back in 2001 and was the fastest windows ever to be produced with lots and lots of improvements over its successors. Even today around 68% of the people around the world use Windows XP either at their home or at their workplace.
Windows XP Service Packs were released to general public in order to enhance the features of Windows XP and even patch some of the shortcomings that were there in the Windows build. Such an update was Windows XP Service Pack 2 which is going to complete its life cycle on 13th July 2010, after which Microsoft will pull its plug on XP Service Pack 2.

“I want to remind you that support for Windows XP SP2 ends July 13, 2010. If you or your customers stay on Windows XP we will still provide updates for Windows XP SP3. Let’s check out our lifecycle support page to understand how long Microsoft will support SP3, and Windows XP as a whole,” Microsoft’s Rob Waggoner noted.
If you are a Windows XP User and are currently using Windows XP Service Pack 2 then you must upgrade your PC to Service Pack 3 in order to receive updates for a few more years as product support according to Microsoft Life Cycle Policy continues for 5 years after the extended support features are released.
My computer is running Windows XP and Windows 7 in dual boot mode and Windows XP was still running Service Pack 2 so I decided to download and install XP Service Pack 3 in March which was successful and therefore I am on Windows XP Service Pack 3.
